What is included in managed hosting
The proposal lists what is included for your website. Monitoring, backup frequency and retention, restore assistance, patching and application work need explicit scope. Content edits and wider website changes belong in a separate website management agreement unless included in the hosting scope.
Performance monitoring
Where included, checks cover specified availability and loading measurements. Findings may require changes to caching, images, application code or an external service. The next step depends on the investigation and which provider controls the affected part of the setup. A check is not continuous human supervision and cannot identify every fault.
Security management
The scope identifies responsibility for software support, access permissions, TLS certificates and patching. Any scanning or protective controls must be specified for the selected platform. These measures do not guarantee that a site cannot be compromised; incident investigation and recovery work need defined responsibilities too.
Ongoing support
The agreement records the contact route for hosting questions, faults and planned changes. Investigation, DNS work and coordination with the hosting provider are included only where specified. Website development or work controlled by another supplier may need separate agreement.
Match the setup to the website
We review what the website does, resource usage, connected services and the operational effect of an interruption. Capacity, caching and recovery requirements are assessed against that information. Changes to the setup are agreed before implementation.
Marketing sites
For campaign and service pages, the review identifies hosting, caching and enquiry-form dependencies. It records whether forms, analytics or other services rely on external providers. Any tests and ongoing checks are listed in the scope.
Brochure websites
For a brochure website, the review records storage, software, backup and access requirements. It distinguishes hosting tasks from content changes and identifies who handles each part. New website features may change the hosting requirements.
Growing ecommerce
For a self-hosted shop, the review covers resources, caching exclusions and recovery arrangements around stock, orders and checkout. Restoring an earlier backup may omit newer transactions, so the recovery approach needs explicit agreement. Shopify manages its own platform hosting; work on a Shopify theme or apps is a separate scope.
